Welcome
We are thrilled that you’ll be joining us on this special day. We are hoping that good weather will join us as well.
This site will be the place to go to find out all sorts of details. As August 21 approaches, come back here often for updates, last-minute news about weather-related plans, etc.
Parking
Please don’t park at our house, and please don’t park on our street. Please visit our contact page for parking and other directions.
What to expect
We’ll have a ceremony, light hors d’oevres, light luncheon, some great music, and an opportunity for family and friends to get together, all in our back yard and on our porch. We will have a tent, which we’ll use more or less depending on the weather.
Dress
We’re going to dress up a bit and encourage you to as well, but we don’t recommend taking that too far. In particular, remember that we will be outside. Consider the weather, and wear shoes that will be comfortable on possibly wet grass. Consider sunscreen and a hat for the sun that we hope will be shining.
Covid
We are confident that everyone coming to this event will be fully vaccinated against Covid. If you’ve been traveling or otherwise exposed to lots of people, please also get a (negative!) Covid test beforehand. Unless the weather is terrible, we will not put walls on the tent. Mask wearing is optional. With sadness, we will be avoiding hugs and handshakes, so please feel the all the love of those gestures in fist- and elbow-bumps.
Ticks and mosquitoes
We have seen very few ticks this year, but we live in tick country, and ticks can carry Lyme and other diseases. Here’s what the CDC says about ticks. Wear insect repellent with DEET, and consider doing a tick check and taking a shower when you get home. The insect repellent will also help with mosquitoes, which have at times been pretty bad this year, even in daytime.
No gifts, please!
We are fortunate to have everything we need. Please consider donating in our name to a charity of your choice. Some we like are Universal Promise, Community Servings, the Guthy-Jackson Foundation, Compassion and Choices, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and Planned Parenthood.
